Things Are Moving!
Dear friend,
a few days before the 60th anniversary of the deportation of
the Chechen people on 23 February 1944 on the orders of
Stalin, I would like to thank all those who have supported me
during this hunger strike to urge Europe in intervene with
determination to put an end to the genocide of the Chechen
people at the hands of the Russian authorities.
I would also like to thank all those (already more than 200
people) who will take part in the
three-day fast that will begin tomorrow in support of the
Peace Plan presented by the Chechen government for the
establishment of an interim United Nations administration in
Chechnya.
Finally, I would like to thank the 17,000 people and the
hundreds of leading personalities and parliamentarians who
have already signed the appeal in support of the Peace Plan,
and to invite anyone who has not yet done so to do so without
further delay at
www.radicalparty.org!
A certain number of parliamentary initiatives have got off the
ground in the course of the last few days, and demonstrations
- well attended, I hope - will take place in over twenty
cities in Europe (details can be found at
www.radicalparty.org).
These initiatives are thus beginning to bear fruit. On the
basis of the mobilisation for the demonstrations on 23
February and of the results of the parliamentary initiatives
in progress, we will soon be able to decide how to follow up
this nonviolent initiative.
I very much hope to see you on 12 p.m. on Monday,
at rond-point Schumann in Brussels, where I will be with the
Chechen Health Minister Oumar Khanbiev.
Best wishes,
Olivier Dupuis
